Ballooning away...
For those who were not able to see the Art Installation by French Artist Charles Pétillon we take a trip down memory lane briefly here...
It was truly a marvel and wonderful piece of Art to admire and appreciate. The piece of art was Charles Pétillons' first public Art exhibition and London was certainly lucky to be host for it! It ebbed and flowed through Covent Garden Market place like a wonder.
The work of art consisted of 100,000 balloons lighting and fading away consistently across the 19th century market place.
In his own words Charles Pétillon said: “The balloon invasions I create are metaphors. Their goal is to change the way in which we see the things we live alongside each day without really noticing them. With Heartbeat I wanted to represent the Market Building as the beating heart of this area – connecting its past with the present day to allow visitors to re-examine its role at the heart of London’s life'.
We thank Charles for Illuminating Covent Garden for a short period and we certainly hope he will be coming back soon.
